WHAT IS A TO-DO LIST:

A To-D list is a list of tasks you need to complete or things that you want to do and one of the main purposes of a To-Do list is to keep you organized.

MOTIVATION:

We are business men and woman and some of us are even students, we have tons of classes to attend and lost of meetings and presentations we have to meet up with. Jeez, these things can be just tiring, we need some things that can help us track our time and duties, OMG, how can we go about this now.

Yeah, of course to write down a list of what we are too do but how do we track our time not to spend much time on one thing without knowing?!.

So, my team and I decided to come up with a To-Do list application design, where we can be able to plan and track our time.

Actually we decided to use GOOGLE TASK as our case study.

This are some painA points of the general users:

· UI looks outdated and unattractive

· Users are unable to find tasks easily

· They find it’s hard to keep multiple lists organized

· They miss a list collaboration function

· They also complain they can’t arrange tasks according to priority and date

· The app lacks reminders and location reminder

ABOUT THE PRODUCT:

Introducing the new product ‘PLANit’ which is a simple yet fun application that helps you keep up with your daily tasks by scheduling each task nice and neat.

Problem Statement

With what we know about a To-Do list, we were able to find out issues that users have with already existing To-Do list applications and we were able to see how we can change these features and what we could add.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:

Our sole aim and objective for this project is to be able to make users have easy interaction with the product when setting their daily tasks and also put in place other new options or features they might have needed.

REASEARCH QUESTIONS:

Questions we took into consideration for us to be able to come up with an active application were:

- How accurate the application would be.

- Its timeliness to respond to a command at a specific time given.

We were able to use 2 methods of gathering information;

- Questionnaire method

- Observation method from experiences

The following are questions we used on users to be able to gain our user persona;

1. Do you use a To-Do list?

2. If no, have you ever thought about using one?

3. Why did you feel there was a need to use a To-Do list?

4. What is your experience using one?

5. And from the one you are using; state some bad user experience you have had with it.

6. What functions do you think can be added on the one you are currently using and what functions do you think can be removed or are unnecessary?

USERS PAIN POINTS:

· “ I am unable to break up a task into sub tasks and further down into smaller or singular task(s) with start and end dates ”

· ” I don’t get notification to remind me constantly about undone task.”

· “I just wish aside the reminders I could it just like a sticky note to my screen, perhaps a motivational quote to remind me I can do it, lol”

EMPATHY MAP:

DESIGN DOCUMENTATION:

for our application we took into necessary pain points as seen and decided on functions to include in our application an they include:

On boarding screen consisting of the logo

the home screen with buttons such as , My day, Task, settings, calendar, categories, you+team for a team function, new list and template for changing the application skin or theme.

LOW -FIDELITY WIREFRAME

HIGH FIDELITY WIRE FRAME

COLOR PALETTE

Conclusion:

We designed a To-Do Application for both web and mobile views which allows users to add, edit, delete, update tasks as well as having the ability to set reminders for each task, as was given. All these were done based on user pain points which we discovered based on research as we can see in the above write-up.

It was quite challenging but we made it at last. Thank you.
